Herbert Matthews was a photographer in Cuba who provided insight on the things that happened. He was letting the U.S know what was happening in Cuba, so it made them support Castro more. Matthews went looking for Castro in the Sierra Maestra Mountains and came back with the " scoop of the century" in 1957. Herbert Mattthews basically told them he was the main contact for the rebels. Matthews made Castro seem like a "an impassioned outlaw dedicated to aiding his suffering people".
